Ian Horsley

M.S.c., M.C.S.P., S.R.P.

Ian is the Clinical Director of Back in Action Rehabilitation Ltd. He holds a Masters degree in Sports Injury and Therapy and is currently completing his PhD at the University of Sheffield.

Ian is qualified in acupuncture and injection therapy, has completed the full series of McKenzie courses, and holds a certificate in Manual Therapy and Advanced Pitch Side Trauma Care.

Ian was a lecturer at the University of Salford within the Directorate of Sport, and works for the Rugby Football Union as a physiotherapist to England ‘A’.

His interests are rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries and management of injuries around the shoulder girdle.

Ian lives in the Barnsley area and is married to Lynne and has 2 children, William and Beth.

Hobbies: “I enjoy spending time with my family (when work allows) and unfortunately, I am a life long supporter of Barnsley Football Club. When I have a spare moment I like to fall asleep in front of the T.V. (sorry Lynne!!)”.

 

Anne Walsh

M.C.S.P. S.R.P.

Anne trained at the School of Physiotherapy at Leeds University.

Anne worked for 7 ½ years, at weekends, as an emergency Physiotherapist at Killingbeck Hospital treating intensive care patients following open heart surgery. She joined Springwell Health Clinic in 1985 and has been ever present through the change to Back-in-Action.

Anne recently trained in Muscle Energy Techniques for the neck, low back and pelvis dysfunctions.

Anne lives in the Leeds area and is married with 3 children and 2 grandsons, likes watching all sports and spending time with her family.

 

Alison Cadman

B.S.c., M.C.S.P., S.R.P.

Alison qualified from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen in 1993 with a BSC. in physiotherapy. Specialising in musculo-skeletal physiotherapy, she has worked with Wakefield RFC and Wakefield Harriers AC.

Alison gained further significant qualifications in this field including the Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine and has also become a fully credentialed McKenzie physiotherapist. A holistic approach to the patient as an individual has led Alison to gain further nationally recognised accreditation in acupuncture.

She is a member of the following professional bodies for physiotherapy: AACP, McKenzie Institute, The Society of Orthopaedic Medicine and the Physiotherapy Pain Association. Alison currently lives in Wakefield and is married with 2.4 children.

 

Ruth Stewart

Sports Rehabilitator.

Ruth graduated in July 2001 from Salford University with a BSc (Hons) in Sports Rehabilitation. Final year thesis looked at injuries in amateur golfers. Previuosle obtained a diploma in Applied Physiotherapy and Health Science from Carlow IT, in Ireland.

Ruth has been with Back in Action since Feb 2004, and also runs her own clinic in Doncaster. Previously worked at various private sports injury and physiotherapy clinics in Manchester, as well as Wakefield RFC, Yorkshire and Lancashire Youth Rugby Union and Doncaster RFC.

Married James last summer and lives in Doncaster with her two cats. Enjoys travelling, especially home to the west of Ireland, going to the gym and watching most sports, especially football ( avid supporter of Manchester United FC.)
